FGA seminar date set

BATESVILLE – The Food and Growers Association of Laughery Valley and Environs (FGA) has announced the date for its eighth annual Grower’s/Producer’s Seminar.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, all FGA members and the public are invited to attend the eighth annual Grower’s/Producer’s seminar, to be held at Batesville Intermediate School Cafeteria. The theme of the meeting is ‘Small Farm Enterprises = Big Opportunities’.

Three presenters will speak on this topic:

April Boyle of Asheville, N.C. will speak on backyard poultry;

Mike Hoopengardner of Caprini Creamery in Spiceland, will speak on dairy goats and cheeses;

Richard Stewart of Carriage House Farm in North Bend, Ohio will speak on bee keeping and honey making.

Lunch will be provided, catered by Aramark Catering, caterer to the Hill-Rom Center.

Various vendors will also be on-hand to answer questions regarding many different topics.

The seminar is $20 per person. A separate, after-seminar talk will be given by April Boyle, with more detail on raising backyard poultry. Reservations for this seminar must be made in advance and the cost is $10 per person.
