While residents of the city of Greensburg may have watched weather reports of dangerous storms Monday evening without seeing much outside their windows, other areas of the county knew of danger first-hand.
At least one barn was taken down in Westport while there were reports of barn and grain bin damage in Letts, Greensburg Fire Chief Scott Chasteen noted. Millhousen suffered damage as well, with some roads closed in the area. In these three areas of the county, power outages were likely, he noted.
This is not the first evening of storms, and strong thunderstorms are expected throughout the remainder of the week. Chasteen encouraged area residents to be mindful of standing water in roadways during these weather events and to be aware of the potential danger of downed trees and power lines.
"If a tree is down, it may have a line wrapped up in it," he noted.
