The Schneider Corporation, a leading engineering,

land surveying and GIS services provider, will provide site, roadway and drainage design, permitting, geotechnical and environmental engineering services for the recently announced Honda plant in Decatur County.

Prior to the June 28 announcement of the plant’s location, Honda hired Indianapolis-based Schneider to provide a fast-track site feasibility study on the proposed 1,700 acres. The study proved to be integral in the

manufacturer’s selection of the Greensburg site.

The first automobile to come off the line of the new Honda plant is scheduled for delivery in the fall of 2008. The new facility will be the shortest time frame from announcement to opening in the history of the company by a full two months. Schneider will help the worldwide motor company open its sixth North American auto plant on schedule.

“We have a big job in store over the next 12 to 24 months,” said Ed Jolliffe, president of The Schneider Corporation. “The number of talented individuals at Schneider, our integrated services model, and our experience working similar economic development projects will be key in meeting Honda’s aggressive schedule.”

Earlier in 2006, Schneider announced a capital investment of more than $4.4 million and the creation of over 140 new, high-paying jobs by 2010. “Rewarding projects like the Honda plant are precisely the reason we are committed to building, growing and investing our business in Indiana,” added Jolliffe.

According to Governor Mitch Daniel’s office, road and infrastructure improvements for the Honda plant will cost state and local agencies $44 million. An additional $56 million will be invested in similar improvements for future regional growth in southeastern Indiana. Honda estimates it will be able to provide 2,000 new jobs for Hoosiers.
