GREENSBURG – The Greensburg-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce will be holding its 28th annual golf outing August 9 at the North Branch Golf Course.
The Chamber’s event is the longest running golf outing in the county, allowing Chamber members an opportunity to network with other business owners while getting out of the office and playing an 18-hole game. A surprising amount of business could take place on the course, according to the Chamber’s executive director, Jeff Emsweller. Emsweller said that the golf outing is a fantastic way for business owners to talk and possibly make deals in a relaxing, low-pressure environment, in addition to enjoying a relaxing game.
Since its inception, the Chamber has sought to promote smart, controlled growth of business and industry in the area, both in Greensburg and throughout the county. Because the organization is not-for-profit, fundraisers have become vital to the Chamber’s continued existence.
The annual golf outing is one of the Chamber’s chief fundraisers. The golf outing, and other Chamber events, help fund community programs and future events to benefit the public.
This year, Emsweller said the Chamber chose to move the golf outing to Friday instead of the traditional Wednesday because board members thought it would be a great way for participants to start their weekend, or end their work week. The Chamber’s website features an event description titled “TGIF- Thank ‘Golf’ it’s Friday.”
The title sponsor for this year’s event is Arbor Grove Village. Emsweller said the company has been very active in the community and have generously become title sponsors this year to further assist Chamber efforts in the area. There is an extensive list of sponsors and donors for the golf outing, showing widespread community support for the Chamber’s annual event.
