Taylor said a similar donation took place earlier this year at Hickory Creek of Greensburg, and she hopes to include all senior communities, assisted living centers and nursing homes in the program at some point in the future.
The neck pillow gifts are also a source of pride for those who have selected the materials and stuffed them with care.
Kathy Minor told the Daily News she enjoys the neck pillow program, which coincides with other community service initiatives of the Action Club. Minor mentioned the bringing of snack packs and treat bags to various senior communities as a favorite activity of hers.
And there’s plenty of activity in the Kiwanis Action Club.
Taylor, the club’s advisor, said the group meets twice a month and conducts typical club activities. There are officer elections and meetings as well.
The Action Club presents an opportunity for community members with disabilities to lend a hand to others throughout the community. The group also fits in line with other Kiwanis service projects intended to benefit the community as a whole.
Taylor noted the Action Club helps build leadership, interpersonal relationships and general living skills, adding a boost to the club members’ self-esteem in the process.
