The Washington D.C.-based National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded grants to four Indiana cultural preservation initiatives. The nearly $1.3 million will be split among groups in Bloomington, Richmond and Indianapolis.

Former Daniels adviser joins Miller

An adviser in former Governor Mitch Daniels’ administration has joined Ice Miller LLP as an attorney in its public affairs group.

Lori Torres served as commissioner of the Indiana Department of Labor under Daniels.

Fort Wayne names business liaison

Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry says Stephanie Crandall has been appointed the city’s legislative and business liaison. She most recently worked as principal associate for the National League of Cities in Washington D.C.

Life science forum set for Purdue

An event focusing on technical and work force challenges in the biosciences sector is set for next month at Purdue University. The forum will showcase university resources and feature discussions including panelists from Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY), Cook Biomedical and Endocyte Inc. (Nasdaq: ECYT).

The Egg & I to open in carmel

Indiana’s first The Egg & I Restaurant is slated to open in Hamilton County next week. The breakfast and lunch chain has more than 80 locations nationwide and is expected to employ 30 people in Carmel.
