Greensburg Daily News

---- — Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann and the Indiana Career Council will host regional forums at three Ivy Tech Community College locations in May seeking input into the strategic planning process for the state’s education, job skills training and career development system.

The forums are being offered to provide business, education, workforce, economic and community development leaders an opportunity to learn about and provide input and feedback into the strategies and tactics that council members are considering as they develop a strategic plan, with a July 1 deadline, for aligning the state’s multi-faceted system.

The three forums are Friday, May 9, from 9-11 a.m. at Student Life Center Room 121, 3701 Dean Drive, Fort Wayne; Monday, May 12, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Connie and Steve Ferguson Academic Building Lamkin Hall, 200 Daniels Way, Bloomington; and Tuesday, May 13, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Ivy Tech Corporate College and Culinary Center, 2820 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis.

Forum RSVPs may be sent to, and should include date of event.

“We encourage business owners, education officials and community members to join us in sharing ideas and observations as we work at better aligning Indiana’s efforts in education, job training and career development,” said Ellspermann, council vice chair and forums facilitator. “Your assessments and hands-on experience can serve to guide our discussions in seeking better accessibility and interfaces with students, job seekers and employers.”

Over the past several months, the council has received input and testimony during its monthly meetings to shape the plan as its four task forces seek to delve into critical areas of employment growth, the Indiana Workforce Intelligence System, community colleges best practices and program alignment and talent development. Presenters have included the building and construction trades, Indiana State Chamber of Commerce, Indiana Association of Career and Technical Educators, ITCC and Vincennes University.
