GREENSBURG – Effective immediately, Library staff will no longer be making phone calls or sending postcards to notify you of overdue materials.
A changing community, economy, and work force has created a low response rate to these calls. In an effort to be good stewards of taxpayer money, it has been decided to discontinue these calls as they require a good deal of staff time and efforts. Notices of overdues will still be sent via U.S. First Class mail 14 and 28 days after the due date.
Please remember that you can add an email address to your account information and receive an email reminder of upcoming due dates and overdue notices. If you provide an email address you will receive an email notification three days before your items are due and again on the day your items are due.
If you would like to add your email address, you may do so online here, by calling 812-663-2826 or stopping by the Library. If you’d like help using the online system, please stop by and someone will show you how to access your account online.
As of Nov. 1, you may pay fines and fees owed on your Evergreen Library account at any Library within the Evergreen system. This will make it easier for you to pay fines and fees accrued at another Library (for example, you checked a book out from the Shelbyville Library and returned it overdue. You can now pay those fines here at the Greensburg-Decatur County Public Library.)

As a reminder, anyone with a balance of $10 and over on their card will not be able to check out materials or use the computers.
The Library continues to use Unique Management Services to collect balances of $25 and over.
