Indiana projects win TIGER grants
The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced funding for two Indiana initiatives as part of its Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery program. IndyGo in Indianapolis will receive $10 million for an electric bus project and the state department of transportation is being awarded more than $8 million for a bridge replacement effort.
IMS to host STEM event
Celebrate Science Indiana and the local chapter of the American Chemical Society will host an event this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The daylong festival includes interactive exhibits and demonstrations designed to spark students’ interest in science, technology, engineering and math-related activities.
Center seeks awards nominees
The nomination period is open for the Southeast Indiana Small Business Development Center’s annual program to honor entrepreneurs. The organization is looking for nominees in 11 categories including Small Business Person of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
Arts group seeking new leader
Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne has launched a nationwide search for a new president. The cultural organization is looking to replace Jim Sparrow, who is leaving for a similar post in North Carolina.
Whitley County expanding efforts
The Whitley County Economic Development Corp. has announced a new initiative designed to boost local entrepreneurship development. The eight-week Ice House Entrepreneurship Program begins next week and includes online and in-person programs.
