Weigel joins local practice

Greensburg Daily News

Greensburg — Drs. Weigel and Lohmueller are excited to announce the hiring of a new optometrist, Dr. Eric Weigel.

He graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry in May 2011. Upon graduation he moved to Memphis, Tenn. to spend a year in residency training specializing in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy at the Southern College of Optometry.

While in Memphis, he examined countless pediatric patients and worked with many patients of varying ages in the vision therapy clinic. The vision therapy clinic dealt with children and adults with binocular vision problems and eye strain complaints. Other time was spent studying, lecturing, and learning more about childhood vision development, how to manage patients with crossed eyes (strabismus), lazy eye (amblyopia), and other childhood vision problems.

Vision therapy is a branch of optometry that helps patients to learn to use both eyes as a team. Vision therapy uses various techniques and equipment such as lenses, prisms, and computer programs to help the patient. Vision therapy helps the patient learn to control their visual system more effectively. For more information about vision therapy and how it can help, visit www.covd.org.

Dr. Eric Weigel is now accepting new patients of all ages at 223 E. Washington Street in Greensburg. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Call 663-2480 or stop in to make an appointment. Medical eye care, red eye, and emergency visits are also welcome.
