Maddux honored with Arc Professional Service Award

INDIANAPOLIS – The Arc of Indiana, the state’s leading advocacy organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has honored Jennifer Maddux, Greensburg, with the 2013 Cathleen Clark Professional Service Award.

Maddux was recognized for her outstanding service and commitment to people with developmental disabilities through her work at Decatur Developmental Industries in Greensburg, Indiana, as well as her volunteer efforts at The Arc of Decatur County, Decatur County Special Olympics, and Front and Center Players, an acting troupe for people with developmental disabilities.

The award, presented at The Arc’s annual Appreciation Luncheon Nov. 6, recognizes a direct support staff person for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for their outstanding contribution toward the lives of those with whom they work.

John Dickerson, The Arc of Indiana Executive Director, said, “Jennifer’s work and commitment go well beyond her day to day job duties. She has become a mentor, advocate and friend to the many people she works for every day. Having a direct support staff person who is willing to go “above and beyond” for the people he or she serves is so important to people with developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc of Indiana was honored to recognize Jennifer’s commitment by recognizing her with the Professional Service Award.”
