Arbor Grove celebrates Arbor Day

Greensburg — Arbor Grove Village recently hosted their first-ever Arbor Day Celebration.

The event kicked off with Tree Bingo and refreshments in the main dining room.

Lunch was then served consisting of an array of cold cut meat sandwiches,

potato chips, and cookies.

From there the group planted a lollipop crabapple tree, donated by Vohland Nursery. The tree was  planted in a hole dug by Justin Byler and Craig Johannigman of the Greensburg Fire Department.

The Lollipop Crabapple Tree was then dedicated by the participants by raising the American flag, prayer, and Greensburg's own tower tree song, "The Tree on the Tower," composed by J. Falconer Fraser.

The afternoon closed with a nature hike at Charles Buell nature trail located off CR NE 80.

Marie Taylor was the big winner on Arbor Day at Arbor Grove Village. She walked away with a Lollipop Crabapple Tree of her own. The Taylor family is going to dedicate the lollipop crabapple as their very own family tree.
