“Oh, What a Beautiful Morning.”

That’s what I thought when I looked out early Thursday morning to see the fresh falling snow that had already coated/covered the trees and shrubs in our back yard. Of course, for those

who had to get off to work or maybe a trip out of town it wasn’t so beautiful.

But it was something to take away the sadness of having to remove and put away those many, beautiful, Christmas decorations until next year. That’s what is facing the deacons and friends at Sandcreek this Saturday. The Faith Singers will practice at 9 a.m. and at 10 a.m. we’re hoping several will come to make fast work of taking down our sanctuary decorations and restoring the church building to it’s usual decor. What a change that will make. The lights on the tree, the candles, and the nativity all make the sanctuary seem so warm and bright.

They just seem to make you feel welcome and anxious to worship together. Can we find that same spirit when the decorations are gone? Of course! Remember that it’s not the decorations that make the church a welcoming place. It’s the people that come there to worship and fellowship together. The music and hearing God’s Word make the sanctuary a place we all want to be on Sunday morning. Hope you’ll make an effort to be there this week.

It’s the start of a new year and I’ve been thinking I believe I’ll read my Bible through this year. I haven’t done that for several years and I think it’s time I do it again. I know I’ll read things I don’t remember and will even think I’ve not read them before.

I just start “at the beginning” and read. I don’t have a specific amount of time or place to read. Just like to read it as it was written. You could use a printed schedule if you want but won’t you consider reading along with me? We could encourage each other when we get bogged down at times.

Think about it and I’ll be thinking about you reading with me. I know we’ll all be blessed by doing it together. Hope to see you at Sandcreek or encourage you to attend the church of your choice.

First Christian Church

As we begin the new year, the First Christian Church welcomes you this Sunday to our worship services at 8 a.m. (traditional) and 10:30 a.m. (contemporary), 425 North Broadway, Greensburg. Sunday School classes are at 9:30 am.

The Story, starting this Sunday, takes specific selections from the NIV scriptures and places them in chronological order so the reader can better understand God’s story and how our story intersects with it. Each week, sermons and lessons will revolve around one chapter from the book. You won’t want to miss out on reading along with us! Participant books are recommended so you can read along with each lesson. The following books are available at christianbook.com: The story for Adults, The Story for Teens (Junior/Senior High), The Story for Kids (3rd-5th grade), The Story for Children (K-2nd grade), The Story for Little Ones (Preschool).

Elev8 classes for children and junior high youth will meet this Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a meal served for children, junior high youth, and volunteers at 5:45 p.m. Senior high Elev8 classes will meet Sunday night from 6:30 to 7:30 with a meal served at 5:45 p.m.

Coming Tuesdays in February to First Christian Church is RUN FOR GOD 5K (www.RUNFORGOD.com).

This program encourages participants to train their physical bodies along with their spiritual.
