Pregnancy Care Center to hold second Walk for Life

GREENSBURG – The Pregnancy Care Centers of South Central Indiana (PCC-SCI) will be holding their second annual Walk for Life Saturday, Sept. 28.

The event is a family focused fundraiser that seeks to unite the six counties served by PCC-SCI. The serviced counties are Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings and Shelby counties.

PCC-SCI is a Christian, pro-life ministry that believes all human life is created by God and has infinite value. By sharing the word of the Gospel and living as an example of Christianity, PCC-SCI ministers to individuals that must make decisions regarding life issues and sexual health.

The network of seven centers across six counties shares a common mission of compassionately engaging, educating and inspiring communities with truth regarding sexual integrity and the value of human life, according to the PCC-SCI website.

All of the services and assistance offered by PCC-SCI are free of charge and life affirming, meaning that abortion and abortifacients (chemical substances that induce the abortion of a fetus) are not recommended, provided, or referred.

The annual walk will begin with registration and family activities at 10 a.m. at the Pregnancy Care Center located at 325 W. Main Street. After registering, participants may enjoy face-painting, a clown and balloon artist and a delicious pulled-pork barbeque lunch.

The Walk for Life is an easy two mile walk through downtown Greensburg. Organizers said the course will be appropriate for people all ages, from strollers to wheelchairs. A secondary location at First Christian Church, located at 425 N. Broadway Street has been chosen in case of rain.

The walk itself will begin at 10:30 a.m. Lunch, tours of the Pregnancy Care Center and a balloon release to celebrate life will follow until the event concludes at noon.

Every walker that raises $100 or more in pledges will receive a free 2013 Walk for Life t-shirt. Funds raised will be used to support the work of PCC-SCI, which includes sexual integrity programs at area schools and churches, pregnancy related assistance at all PCC locations and abortion recovery support for women and men.

Walk for Life pledge forms can be downloaded from www.affirminglifeonline.org. For more information, please contact Mike Bartlett at 812-591-3807 or Victoria Yeaton at 866-510-5067.
