Church Briefs

(Continued)

Following the baptisms there will be a reception and time of fellowship back at Sandcreek.

We are receiving your donations to the One Great Hour of Sharing offering for the next three Sundays. The youth received their collection boxes last week and there are some left if you’d like one for your family.

Mark of the Date of Sunday, June 29 and plan to be at Sandcreek when we’ll have an “after-church-cookout/pitch-in” as a fifth Sunday celebration and as a time to honor our fathers.

Yes, it’s after Father’s Day but we can always honor our fathers no matter what day it is.

The Brotherhood will be meeting at Liberty Baptist in two weeks. You can call Dennis Collins to make your reservation for the meal.

Keep saving those brown bags, brown wrapping paper, and any size or color of tissue paper for those upcoming VBS decorations.

The collection box for your good, clean shoes has gotten off to a good start. Several pairs of shoes were donated last week. Keep looking in those closets for shoes you no longer wear or need. The youth will appreciate them and will pass them along to needy people.

As promised and expected those cool days of spring have passed and we’re now expecting typical hot, humid, June/summer/Indiana weather.

Not my very favorite. However, as with those terribly cold winter days, “this too shall pass.” We humans are so hard to please. God must get really frustrated with us, His children. We never seem to be satisfied with what we have and so often wish for the present to be over and to have what we think will be better only to find out that what we had was the best after all.

  • We could learn a lesson from rodeo: Either let go...or be dragged A friend who has some experience with rodeo horses sent me a most picturesque proverb: “Let go or be dragged.” Whether this phrase was first spoken by a Zen master who had achieved enlightenment on the mountainside, or by a battered cowboy nursing hi

  • Poverty has its advantages I must confess to a severe case of poverty. I never took a vow of poverty; it just seems to have worked out that way for me. I am so poor the church mice have packed their bags and moved on. If I knew where they moved to, I might join them.Being poor
