“You have been raised to life with Christ. Now set your heart on what is in heaven, where Christ rules at God’s right side. 2Think about what is up there, not about what is here on earth. 3You died, which means that your life is hidden with Christ, who sits beside God. 4Christ gives meaning to your life, and when he appears, you will also appear with him in glory.”
This Sunday, Christians will gather for worship on a day we call Easter. Many will gather at the time of sunrise for what we call a “sunrise service.” I remember many years I was in a new community and a new parish.
I was advised that for the Easter sunrise service one of our neighboring churches would have service on a hillside where someone had erected three crosses.
That morning as we gathered, many people made the trek up the hill and there we prayed, sang and heard a short message about the resurrection of our Lord. Following the service, we were all invited to go to their church for breakfast which was quite the feast.
Have you given consideration to what really happened to Jesus during those days leading up to and, including the death on the cross? I’m sure most all of us have considered those days, and then we wonder about the burial of Our Lord and what was going on during those hours leading up to the Resurrection.
Our inquiring minds lead us down many paths of curiosity but, the Book of Colossians tells us about the future for each of us when this life is over and we go to be with Him. There truly is a place for us when this life ends. We are directed to consider our future in eternity and not so much about ur current life here on earth.
