South Decatur traveled to Madison on Friday for the play-in game for the Sectional 60 semi-finals and brought home a 7-0 victory over host Shawe Memorial.
The basketball season is rapidly winding down with the girls beginning tournament play next Tuesday and the boys junior high school schedule already history. By and large it has been a very successful year for area teams
North and South Decatur each registered at least one victory when their squads met Thursday for junior high school basketball. The Cougars earned victories at the seventh- and eighth-grade levels while the Chargers defeated South Decatur 39-25 in freshman basketball.
All three county schools will be playing a full Friday-Saturday schedule in boys’ basketball with Greensburg getting two home games, North Decatur splitting its schedule with a game on the road and a game at home and South Decatur scheduled for two long trips.
Jac-Cen-Del flew off to a 10-point advantage at 19-9 at the end of the first eight minutes. The Eagles went on to hold that lead for the rest of the game winning 49-39.
North Decatur’s two girls’ basketball games have been rescheduled.
South Decatur Junior High School’s basketball teams traveled to Hope to face Hauser Junior High School and came home with a split in the two games.
North Decatur Junior High School traveled to Osgood Monday afternoon and returned with two victories.
North Decatur basketball opened against South Ripley last night and picked up a pair of wins.
South Decatur is the only team still active in fall sports as it prepares for Friday night’s home football game against No. 1 Indianapolis Bishop Ritter. Because of that, the Daily News looked to its athletic
department to pick the most deserving senior for the Athlete of the Fall.

South Decatur Junior. High Lady Cougars volleyball teams won their first round games in the Mid-Hoosier Conference on Tuesday.
The Greensburg Junior High Cross Country team has had an eventful week of competition with two big invitationals and one triple dual meet.
