The Lady Pirate softballers were ambushed by a group of Lady Spartans as Connersville won 12-3 in action at home Tuesday Night.

The Spartans jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning with the aid of three Pirate errors.

Those runs would prove to be enough for the victory as Pirate bats were silent until they hung a three-spot on Connersville in the fourth inning with Rachel Schmeltz and Sarah Schuman each collecting RBI singles.

The Spartans added insurance runs in the second, third, fifth and seventh innings.

Line score:

Spartans 6 2 1 0 1 0 2 - 12 12 3

Pirates 0 0 0 3 0 0 0 - 3 4 6

Battery: B, Crawford and KL Rusterholz; Hahn, Neisius (5) and Donnelly.

2-base hit: E. Buckler

3-base hit: KL Rustereholz, KN Rusterholz.
