Sara Riedeman named head basketball coach at Roncalli

INDIANAPOLIS

Greensburg Community High School alum Sara Riedeman, most recently a varsity assistant coach at Bishop Chatard, was named the head coach for the girls’ squad at Roncalli.

She comes to Roncalli with a wealth of basketball experience, both as a player and as a coach. A graduate of Greensburg High School, she was selected as her team’s MVP four consecutive seasons. A 2001 first team All-State selection, she was a team member and participated as an Indiana All-Star in the annual summer series with Kentucky.

Her collegiate playing experience included two seasons at Western Kentucky and two seasons at the University of Indianapolis, where, as a senior, she was recognized as their Co-MVP and Mental Attitude Award winner, and Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Academic. She is the career 3-point percentage record holder at University of Indianapolis, while also holding the mark for three point baskets made during a season.

Riedeman’s coaching credentials include her assistant responsibilities at Bishop Chatard, where she was an integral part of the Lady Trojans run this past season to the Class 3A State Championship game. As well, she has been the head coach for the past three summers of top level AAU squads that have won state championships, and have finished very high in various summer national tournaments.

Roncalli Director of Athletics Dave Toner was pleased to make the announcement.“We are extremely happy to have Sara as the leader of our girls basketball program. She will bring great enthusiasm, intensity, and passion to the program, while making every effort to provide the nurturing, yet challenging, environment necessary for our players to attain both personal and team success,” Toner said.
