Meyer hurls one-hitter
Pirates clinch EIAC crown

Gary Dudgeon

Greensburg traveled to Lawrenceburg Tuesday evening to play

Lawrenceburg. The biggest part of that story is, if this game were

played at another level, the traveling secretary should have had a

case of bubbly with him. It would be time to celebrate as

Greensburg claimed the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference (EIAC)

crown behind the power pitching of their ace, Alex Meyer.

Had Meyer been pitching a nine-inning game and maintained the

average number of strikeouts the final two innings, he would have

notched an eye-popping 21 strikeouts. Still 17 Ks in seven innings

will pop a few eyes.

Meyer, who entered the game 49th in the state in the number of

strikeouts, had been registering 8.4 strikeouts per game. That

average was the sixth best in the state. Adding 17 more strikeouts

and one more game, he now averages striking out 9.5 strikeouts per

game, third best in the state.
