South Dearborn defeats Pirates 3 – 0.

South Dearborn started attacking early and the game was played in front of the Pirates goal. Predictably, that lead to an early score by South Dearborn.

When goalie William Wettering became ill, the Pirates were forced to change keepers after the first goal. The Knights quickly took advantage of the changes in personnel required to replace Wettering and scored another two goals in the first half.

During the second half, Wettering returned to goal and the Pirates defense and midfield stepped up their efforts and both teams played even during the second half.

South Dearborn goals were by Tice, Roland and Terrell.

The two Pirates in goal combined for 22 saves.

Eagles sweep South Decatur

The Broiwn County Eagles proved to be less than good hosts to the Cougar volleyball program Thursday night as they swept both the varsity and reserve games.

In varsity action the Cougsars continued to improve throughout the evening in losing 25-8, 25-26 amd 25-23.

“They did improve over the night and they gsained a lot of confidence,” coach Robyn Owes said of her players. “They didn’t get down and they were having fun.”

Ashleigh Ewing had a perfrect night setting nailing all 27 of her attrmpts as did Amber Knapp who was perfect in 17 attempots and successfully passed the ball on 19 of 21 tries. Libero player Stepohanie Kohlman received 18-of-21 Eagle serves and found the setter on 21 of her 22 attempts.

Up front Briana Palmer went 11 of 12 spiking with two kills, Nicole daugherty was 11 0f 14 and Heather Helms was eight of 11 with four kills. Helms was alos fualtless on eight serves and Palmer succeeded on nine of 10 serves.
