GREENSBURG - Courthouse square small business and building owner, downtown revitalization leader and former Decatur County Councilwoman Jean Johannigman announced Thursday that she will run Mayor of the city of Greensburg in the upcoming year. She plans to run for the Democratic nomination in the May local primary election.
In a news release, Johannigman said she will bring downtown development leadership, extensive citizen involvement and a record of listening and responding to the concerns of her fellow citizens to the office.
“Over the last several years, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in the community, and the insights that I have gained by working with the people of Greensburg on various projects will be a great benefit to me in determining the direction and concerns of the taxpayers of Greensburg,” Johannigman said.
Johannigman has been involved with many downtown revitalization groups and is currently president of the City of Greensburg Board of Zoning Appeals. She is the proud owner of Jean and Company Decorating, which has been in business for more than 16 years on the west side of the courthouse square.
Johannigman has recently scaled back her involvement in many of these groups so that she can focus on finding solutions to the issues that will face Greensburg in the very near future.
