Tree County Players off to see the wizard

GREENSBURG – Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my!

Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, Lion and all the characters of Oz will be appearing in the Tree County Players’ summer musical, The Wizard of Oz.

To bring this show to life, TCP needs many cast and crew members. Add some fun to your summer and audition or sign up as a back stage crew member or orchestra musician. Auditions will be held at the Tree County Player office (327 S. Monfort St., Greensburg, IN 47240) from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 13.

Many roles for all ages and abilities are available. Participating in The Wizard of Oz is a great opportunity for a family event. Children could be munchkins or flying monkeys and adults could be citizens of Oz and winkies.

Pre-audition preparation is required (memorize a monologue and prepare a show song). Contact Therese Zins (812-528-5289 or theresezins@yahoo.com) for a complete audition package, to volunteer for a back stage position or if you have questions. If you already have your audition package, call Therese for an audition appointment (which is recommended, but walk ins are welcome - those with appointments will be given time preference).

Show dates for this family classic are June 19, 20 and 21.

Thursday and Friday shows will be performed at 7 p.m. and Saturday’s show is a 2 p.m. matinee.

All the singing and dancing takes place in the Greensburg Junior High School Auditorium. Reserved seat tickets, which go on sale May 1 are $5 for children and $10 for adults.

Call 812-528-5289 for tickets. Remaining seats will be sold an hour before the show on performance nights. Get your seats early for this timeless classic.
