The Fall Festival has a long history of bringing outstanding musical entertainment to downtown Greensburg, and this year appears to be no different.
The Bama Band, this year’s musical headliner, will take to the main stage at 8 p.m. Friday, following an hour long performance by Common Ground. The Bama Band has been nominated twice in the category of “Band of the Year” by the Academy of Country Music, and is known for ‘80s country hits such as “Dallas” and “Tijuana Sunrise.” The band got its start by backing country music legends such as Hank Williams Jr. and Waylon Jennings.
Saturday will offer even more in the way of live music when the Melody Mart Student Jam takes over the main stage from 6 to 7 p.m. That show prefaces the annual Battle of the Bands, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Battle of the Bands will feature, in expected order of performance, the JVT Band, Purple Sky, Thrown Apart, Thorn 4 Memory and Fusebox Affair. Earlier in the day, local band Rampage will perform from 1 to 2 p.m.
Rampage’s set will give way to one of the most popular Fall Festival events, “Decatur County’s Got Talent.” This year’s talent show runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday on the main stage and will allow entrants to show off their musical and singing skills in one of the festival’s signature attractions.
Those less inclined to sing can instead join the annual Lip Sync competition on the main stage at 3:30 p.m. The two hour show will see several groups attempt to follow along with popular music of today and yesteryear, perhaps putting their own stamp on some familiar tunes.
Contest winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m., just before Saturday’s musical showcases take the stage to send off the 2013 Tree City Fall Festival.
