GCHS Drama Club presents Variety Show

GREENSBURG – The Greensburg Community High School (GCHS) Drama Club will be presenting its fifth annual Variety Show at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 at the GCHS Goddard Auditorium.

For $5 per person, with children age 5 and under admitted free, attendees will be able to watch the Drama Club put on a variety of comedy skits. The maximum a family would have to pay for admission is $20, no matter the number of children. While the Drama Club wishes to raise money, they also want to make the event accessible to everyone, according to the show’s director Angie Ballard.

The students in the Drama Club actively seek to give back to the community. For the past four years, the proceeds from the annual show were donated to a local family in need. The Drama Club hopes to make a difference in the Greensburg area, while at the same time spreading cheer and entertaining those in attendance.

All proceeds raised from this year’s show will benefit New Directions of Decatur County. New Directions is a center for services for victims of abuse. New Directions provides more than 75 free services for those suffering from some form of domestic abuse.

Among the skits the Drama Club will be performing for attendees will be selections from past television variety shows like Saturday Night Live, The Amanda Show, Madtv and actor/comedian Zach Galifinakis, as well as other funny shows or internet clips, like the popular WKYK series. In addition to the skits, there will also be individual performers singing and dancing. Gary Bailey and Dr. Jon Dooley will be the MCs for the show and John Pratt assisted with the production.

In the event of school closure due to snow, the show will be rescheduled for a later date. Tickets will be sold at the door.
