GREENSBURG – One does not have to live in Decatur County to take part in the Decatur Arts Club, all are welcome, according to member Kim Wessel.
Wessel said the clubs mission statement is to “reach out to the community in a fun way, to raise awareness of all branches of the fine arts, inspire others and enjoy the arts together as an advocate group open to all to attend and enjoy.”
The Decatur Arts Club holds meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the back room of the Art on the Square Gallery in Greensburg.
At the upcoming July 3 meeting, the club will discuss an outing to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to view the “Face to Face: The Neo-Impressionist Portrait, 1886-1904” exhibit. Costs will be $12 for admission and $10 for gas as attendees will be carpooling. Details will be given at the meeting. The July 3 meeting will also feature a demonstration of spray paint art.
The club will attend a show by the Glenn Miller Orchestra at Connor Prairie at 5 p.m. on Aug. 2. Attendees will meet at the gallery. The Aug. 7 meeting will also include a stained glass demonstration.
Wessel said attendees are invited to “bring their after-supper coffee with them” and check out the club. She said meetings are casual and fun.
