"Moontree Music Fest" rising on High Point Sept. 7

GREENSBURG – The Arts and Cultural Council of Decatur County, in concert with the Decatur County Visitors and Recreation Commission, announces plans to host the first annual “moontree music fest” at High Point Orchard at 3321 N. Old Hwy. 421 Greensburg, Sept. 7, 2013. “moontree music fest,” (intentionally spelled entirely in lowercase letters) an afternoon/evening event, will feature bands from around the Tri-state area, playing music styles from folk-rock, crossover-country, 70’s, top 40 rock-and-roll to blues and pop.

Featured bands include “The Slinkys,” “The Warrior Kings,” the “Jester Kings,” and “Kink Ador” (featuring Nick Hamilton of Greensburg ). Music will begin at 4 p.m. when the gates open. Each band is slated for 90 minute sets with local comedians taking the stage between music sets.

The inaugural “moontree music fest” will also feature wine and beer tasting tents for the sampling of locally made craft beers and wines. Randy Cyman, co-owner of High Point Orchard is proud to offer his own wine samplings alongside those of other popular Southern Indiana wineries participating in the event. High Point Orchard Café, managed by co-owner Karen Cyman will feature seasonally appropriate treats such as apple cole-slaw and delicious apple pie, with tasty pork barbecue and “loaded” potato salad rounding out a delicious event menu.

Finally, “moontree” will feature a flea-market of arts and crafts booths from all over the state. Metal workers, glass blowing and wood crafting artisans, to name a few, will round out the entertainment for a single day event the ACCDC hopes will become an Indiana festival tradition.

Wineries, craft breweries and arts and crafts vendors interested in participating should visit www.artsingreensburg.com, or contact ACCDC Executive Director Bill Rethlake at 812-663-8600, or by email at accdc03@etczone.com.

Tickets for “moontree music fest” will be available for advance purchase at Art on the Square Gallery, or online at www.artsingreensburg.org for $15, and at the front gate during the event for $20.
