Grammy nominees Fastball to play in Osgood

OSGOOD – Austin, Texas band Fastball will be touring the Midwest with two area bands, 650 North and The Easthills, in tow Sept. 11-15.

The tour will be hitting Indianapolis (Sept. 11), Louisville (Sept. 12), Dayton (Sept. 13), two shows in Osgood (Sept. 14) and Nashville, Tenn. (Sept. 15). Tickets for all shows including the Indianapolis show at Radio Radio and the Osgood shows at the Damm Theater are on sale now.

With nearly 20 years of milestones under its belt, Fastball remains one of the most continuously celebrated rock bands on the road. After rising to prominence in 1996 with the debut disc “Make Your Mama Proud,” the trio exploded into a household name with 1998’s breakthrough, “All the Pain Money Can Buy.” Thanks in part to the chart-topping hit, “The Way,” the top five tune “Out Of My Head,” and the top twenty favorite “Fire Escape,” the record skyrocketed to platinum-plus sales in a mere six months, sending them on a whirlwind tour of the world. Along the way, Fastball scored a pair of Grammy nominations, an MTV Music Award nomination.

That momentum continued into the next decade, starting with “The Harsh Light of Day” (2000), spawning the infectious single “You’re An Ocean,” and guest stars like the late great legend Billy Preston, Stray Cats singer Brian Setzer and former Wallflowers guitarist Michael Ward.

“Painting the Corners: The Best of Fastball” (2002) summed up their accomplishments, while turning the page towards an entirely new chapter.

“Keep Your Wig On” (2004), produced by Spoon collaborator Mike McCarthy and Fountains of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger, boasted diverse influences from the British Invasion to power pop and roots rock, expanding upon its radio-ready identity for some of their most astute songwriting to date.

By 2009, the trio turned in “Little White Lies” entirely on its own terms, earning the best reviews of their career.

Armed with a catalogue full of timeless rock n’ roll that always exudes a clever pop sensibility, Fastball’s future on the road is certainly poised to provide yet another storied chapter.
