Chamber of Commerce holding 7th Shopping Scramble

At registration, each shopper will receive a lunch voucher to be used for a free lunch at any of the participating local restaurants. After lunch, shopping will continue at 12:30 p.m. on the “back nine” which includes the Greensburg shopping centers and any local business not included in the Downtown area.

All shoppers will gather at the “19th Hole” at 3 p.m. at Aspen Place. There, participants will be treated with afternoon refreshments and door prizes will be awarded. Each shopper will receive a door prize for taking part in the shopping scramble. Door prizes may include gift items, cash, or gift certificates. Any local business offering a prize for shoppers will award it at the “19th Hole” after the scramble.

“We’re fortunate that so many people want to participate in this and contribute to the local economy,” said Chamber Executive Director Jeff Emsweller. “It brings in a lot of money in just six hours that the businesses might not ordinarily see in one day. It also gives people Christmas ideas and possibly repeat business for the shop owners. Through registration fees and sponsors, we are able to help a local non-profit charity with the donation and a Chamber member with the small business grant. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors and plan to continue this event as long as possible.”

Melissa Bruns said the event has grown well through word of mouth between shoppers. In recent years, more and more new shoppers have signed up for the event, looking forward to enjoying a fun-filled day of shopping with friends while supporting the local economy. The generosity of sponsors and local shoppers has made it possible to continue the annual event and support local businesses.

Spots are still available for those wishing to participate.

Any questions about the seventh annual Chamber Shopping Scramble should be directed to the Chamber at 812-663-2832.
