---- — GREENSBURG – We all know that girls just want to have fun, but somewhere along the line, everyone seems to forget about grown women wanting to enjoy themselves too.

It may be because as women age, they tend to crave a more sedate form of entertainment than their younger counterparts. However, grown women are plenty capable of going out and having fun with their friends, as often proved by the ladies of the Decatur County Extension Homemakers. Women in the area will have a change to gather for a day of fun at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, October 19.

The WoMen Just Want to Have Fun Day will be hosted by the Fifty Club and will last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For a cost of just $6, participants can enjoy a lunch of soup (choice of broccoli or white bean chili), sandwiches (choice of ham and cheese or chicken salad) and homemade cakes, a speech and multiple craft demonstrations. The event is open to the public and all women are welcome, it is not required to be a homemaker and there is no registration.

At 10 a.m., Alice Woodhull will be doing her surprise demonstration. She wouldn’t say what she’d be doing, but she did hint that it would be good for the skin. Juanita Israel will be doing a demonstration about Christmas decorations and Christmas crafts that can be done with children at 10:30 a.m.

Edith Grubb, from Hospice, will be giving a speech at 11 a.m. about Hospice and the kind of care they provide. She will cover volunteerism—what is expected of volunteers and how those interested can get involved. She will be explaining what Hospice is and that there is no charge for Hospice services.

Following Grubb’s speech, Rita Hellmich will be doing a demonstration at 11:30 a.m. Hellmich will be teaching those in attendance how to make a fabric bowl. She will show how to use two pieces of fabric, a medium and heat to craft a solid, hardened bowl.

Lunch will be served at noon and demonstrations will resume at 1 p.m. with Tonia Schofield teaching attendees how to create earrings from buttons. At 1:30 p.m., Morgan Schofield will demonstrate how to create a pincushion. Helen Swango will show participants how to create a Christmas centerpiece at 2 p.m. and Isabelle Royse will wrap up the WoMen Just Want to Have Fun Day following her presentation at 2:30 p.m. Royse will demonstrate how to craft a microwave potholder. Royse said her potholder is in the shape of a bowl and is perfectly microwave safe, allowing for easy transfer of a hot dish from the microwave to the counter.

The WoMen Just Want to Have Fun Day should be an entertaining event where women can spend the day enjoying each other’s company and take part in a variety of tasks and lessons.
