Great Clips Salon Manager Sasha Howard took a moment from her normal routine Friday morning, exchanging her trusty styling scissors for a giant wooden pair.
Perhaps fortunately for the Great Clips clientele, however, Howard’s objective didn’t involve an extra half-inch here or an extra snip there. Instead, Howard used the oversized clippers to snip the ceremonial ribbon as the Greensburg-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce formally recognized the salon as part of its stable of member businesses.
Afterward, Howard characterized the event as the salon’s official “re-grand-opening,” to celebrate a recent move from the Greensburg Commons Shopping Center to the Belter Center across from Walmart.
According to Howard, Great Clips has been part of Greensburg’s business community since 2001, when it first opened in the Commons.
The salon’s new location occupies part of the former Blockbuster building and when the space came open, Howard and the owners agreed a move was in the business’ best interests.
“It’s a better location,” Howard said. “There’s a lot more visibility here.”
The salon’s old location closed for the last time in late March and remained closed a number of days while the relocation commenced.
“We finished the move April 1,” Howard said. “And we opened for business here April 2.
Since opening at the new location, Howard said there’s been a sizable increase in traffic, and she anticipates the numbers continuing to rise.
In celebration of the salon’s grand re-opening, Great Clips, Greensburg’s Belter Center, is currently offering $7.99 haircuts.
The salon’s hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
