GREENSBURG – A loving cat and a Pomeranian/terrier mix housed at the Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Shelter are looking for loving permanent homes.
Sophie is a loving and very sweet cat. She solicits attention, loves to be held and will even give kisses. She gets along okay with other cats. She is spayed and her vetting is up to date, so she is ready to go home the day she is adopted. She would make a wonderful companion for someone living alone or a great addition to any family. Sophie can be adopted for $75.
Collin is a one year old Pomeranian/terrier mix. He came to the shelter as a stray so his past is unknown. He is easily intimidated, but does not bite when he is afraid. He is a very talkative dog and will let people know when something is bothering him. He seems fine with other dogs, but would not get within three feet of a cat. He would probably do best in a low-key quiet home. He can be adopted for $100.
Every pet adopted from the shelter is vaccinated, has been treated for parasites and is spayed or neutered, all of which is included in the adoption fee. The city and in the county have a leash law. Pets must not roam from the owner’s property.
The Animal Shelter is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shelter is always closed on holidays. The Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Shelter is at 1635 W. Park Road and can be reached at 663-9081.
To adopt a pet from the shelter, one must be at least 18 years old and sign a contract. Before taking a pet home to a rental home or apartment, written consent from the landlord must be presented. Prospective owners must also have containment options other than chaining available for the pet. Found pets have a three day hold during which they cannot be adopted. If no owners contact the shelter in that period, a found pet may be sent to a new home.
