GREENSBURG – Another week brings more animals currently housed at the Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Shelter in need of loving permanent homes.
This week, the Daily News presents Simba and Korey. Simba was a returned adoption due to his owner’s recent move. He is a very big boy, weighing in at 10 pounds and he’s still less than a year old. Shelter personnel report Simba is one of the sweetest cats they have at the moment. He solicits attention and loves to be petted. He gets along great with all the others cats and would do well in a home where he can receive lots of attention. Simba can be adopted for $75, which includes his neuter, vaccinations and treatment for parasites.
Korey is a one and a half year old Labrador/shepherd mix. He still has a bit of puppy personality. Korey is very sweet and likes to have his belly rubbed. He gets along with most other dogs, though he does not do well with other dominant males. He may do best as an only dog in a home with lots of yard space to run and play. He shows interest in cats and may chase them. Korey can be adopted for a fee of $100, which includes treatment for parasites, vaccinations and his neuter.
Every pet adopted from the shelter is vaccinated, has been treated for parasites and is spayed or neutered, all of which is included in the adoption fee. Would-be pet owners must be aware that there is a leash ordinance in the city and in the county, pets must not roam from the owner’s property.
The Animal Shelter is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shelter is always closed on Sundays, Mondays and holidays. The Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Shelter is located at 1635 West Park Road and can be reached at 812-663-9081.
