GREENSBURG – Another week brings more animals currently housed at the Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Shelter in need of loving permanent homes.
This week, the Daily News presents Sydney and Suzie. Sydney is a wonderful red-tick coonhound. She is a very sweet, beautiful dog. She walks well on a leash and gets along with all other dogs. Sydney shows interest in cats and may get on their nerves, but she is not a threat to them. Shelter personnel said she is very loving and an all-around great dog. She would do well as a family pet or a farm dog. Sydney can be adopted for a fee of $100, which includes her spaying, treatment for parasites and vaccines.
Suzie is the shelter’s sweet office cat. She is very loving and has a great personality. She enjoys being petted, but will give people their space. Sometimes, Suzie likes to sit at the window and watch the dog walkers. She enjoys being around people more than other cats and shelter workers say Suzie is distressed when she is in the cat room. She will tolerate other cats, but prefers to be an only cat and would do well in a single-pet home. Suzie can be adopted for a fee of $75, which includes spaying , vaccines and treatment for parasites.
Every pet adopted from the shelter is vaccinated, has been treated for parasites and is spayed or neutered, all of which is included in the adoption fee. Would-be pet owners must be aware that there is a leash ordinance in the city and in the county, pets must not roam from the owner’s property.
The Animal Shelter is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shelter is always closed on Sundays, Mondays and holidays. The Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Shelter is located at 1635 West Park Road and can be reached at 812-663-9081.
