GREENSBURG – Another week brings more animals currently housed at the Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Shelter in need of loving permanent homes.
This week, the Daily News presents Peter and Suzie. Peter is a two year old toy fox terrier and Chihuahua mix. He was very timid and slightly nippy when she first came to the shelter, but he hasn’t bitten anyone. He does very well walking on a leash. Peter gets along okay with other dogs and may be afraid of cats. He would do best in a laid back home with no children or with someone who has experience with small breed dogs. He can be adopted for $100, which includes vaccinations, treatment for parasites and neutering.
Suzie is a senior cat at the age of 11 years. She is very sweet and solicits attention from whoever will give it to her. She gets along with everyone. Suzie doesn’t like to be in the cat room at the shelter, preferring to roam free. She would do well in a home with enough space for her to wander as she pleases. She can be adopted for $75, which includes her spay, treatment for parasites and vaccinations.
Every pet adopted from the shelter is vaccinated, has been treated for parasites and is spayed or neutered, all of which is included in the adoption fee. Would-be pet owners must be aware that there is a leash ordinance in the city and in the county, pets must not roam from the owner’s property.
The Animal Shelter is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shelter is always closed on Sundays, Mondays and holidays. The Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Shelter is located at 1635 West Park Road and can be reached at 812-663-9081.
