A memorial service was held Saturday in Shelbyville to memorialize three public servants who lost their lives in a Decatur County helicopter crash Aug. 31 near Burney.

A somber crowd attended the event to honor, remember and say good-bye to pilot Roger Warren, flight nurse Sandi Pearson and flight paramedic Wade Weston.

The service at the Shelbyville High School gymnasium began at 11 a.m. with a fly-over by four helicopters.

The order of events from that point forward included an honor procession, music, a brief welcome by Air Evac Lifeteam President Seth Myers, eulogies for the deceased, a presentation to the crewmembers’ families, prayer, a last call, and a retiring of colors ceremony.
