OUR VIEW: Thank You Honda!

— The Greensburg Daily News shares in the feeling of pure excitement at the announcement Honda will be joining our community.
Our research into the impact the major automaker has had in each of its preceding sites has turned up nothing but good news. We believe Honda’s contribution to Decatur and surrounding counties will be so great it is hard to quantify. Numbers like $1.5 billion only account for Honda’s contribution. The ancillary projects which go with locating an assembly plant here will have a positive multiplying effect.
We find it difficult to think of a better partner to have in our goal to improve the economy, way of life and overall prosperity of the area. Growing pains are often hard but to have a corporation like Honda, which has done this same type of endeavor many times, as a guiding force will only ease the pain and quickly turn it into something special.
We hope the citizens of the county are as quick to embrace this project as local officials and Gov. Mitch Daniels have been. They see the value of bringing Honda into Indiana’s fold and it will soon become obvious to everyone just what a windfall this will be for all of Southeastern Indiana.
Thank you Honda for choosing Decatur County and thank you for having the same faith in the work ethic, honesty and integrity we knew existed in our citizens all along.
