I was feeling melancholy this morning and thinking about
what a good friend, Bob Middendorf, and I were talking about over coffee the
other morning. We were talking about things we should have done for our wives.
We both spent more hours at work than we should have. We
should’ve taken out wives to dinner more often than we did. We should have been
home with our wives.
I could’ve played less golf and fished less. When you lose
someone you love, these things come up in your mind. You have heard the song
that says, “If you can’t be with the one you love, then love the one you’re
with.” I was not that way and neither was Bob. I had one love and it was all I

says what I feel. It says, “I should have sent her flowers.”
