Greensburg Daily News
---- — Dear Editor:
On behalf of team Memory Keepers, I am extending a heartfelt thank you to my family, friends, neighbors and community for your outstanding support of the 2013 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
I have so many people to thank for their generous donations and support. In no particular order, thank you to: MainSource Bank and employees; First Federal Savings and Loan; the Greensburg Lions Club; members of the monthly Alzheimer’s Support Group; and to my family members and fellow teammates. I also extend a huge thank you to these restaurants that allowed us to place our donation cans in their establishment -- KFC, Wendy’s, Waffle House, Mancino’s, and Ponderosa—and to the many patrons who generously gave to our cause. Your support will help in the research for a cure to end Alzheimer’s disease.
November is a time for thanksgiving and counting our blessings. November is also National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness/Family Caregiver Month. Holidays can be stressful to begin with, and caring for anyone who is ill can make celebrating more difficult. I encourage everyone to remember those who may be having difficulties in caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or any other disease. Offer to help when and where you can, even if it is simply baking a batch of cookies, helping to prepare a part of the holiday feast, or offering to assist in decorating for the holidays. It may seem like a small token of kindness, but it will go a long way in the eyes of the caregivers.
Again, thank you so much for your donations, support, and prayers.
