The Habitat for Humanity pedal the miles away

GREENSBURG - Local Pastors complete 10,000 miles of biking for Habitat For Humanity. Kathleen and Jim Splitt, pastors at First Presbyterian Church have completed a total of 21 Habitat 500 mile bike rides. Jim finished his 12th ride and Kathleen her 9th in this year's Habitat 500 mile bike ride last week in Minnesota. Combing the total mileage from all their rides, they have biked over 10,000 miles for HFH, raising money and awareness about the ministry of providing simple, decent and affordable housing through the Christian ministry of Habitat for Humanity. The ride, July 13-19th, began and ended in Monticello, MN with stops in Hutchinson, New London, Little Falls, Onamia, and Foley, MN. During the ride, Jim and Kathleen particpated in the 1600th home to be built in MN and spent one day working on the site. Together, Jim and Kathleen raised over $3,000 to help our local Decatur County HFH Affiliate which included a Grant from Thrivent Financial Services. "This will help us with our first HFH build in Decatur County which we hope to begin soon." Our next fund raising effort for HFH-Decatur County will be a GOLF TOURNAMENT to be held at Greensburg Country Club on Wednesday, August 20th.
