---- — GREENSBURG — The second “Junk in Your Trunk” garage-style sale will be held from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., Aug. 9, in the parking lot behind City Hall.
Organizer Sharon Herbert told the Daily News that, after the Aug. 9 event, two more Junk in Your Trunk sales will be held in September – one Sept. 13 and one Sept. 28 – with a final sale held Oct. 11.
Coordinated and hosted by the Tree City Fall Festival, Junk in Your Trunk allows anyone to rent one of 65 parking spaces available in the lot behind City Hall and sell whatever unwanted items they like from the trunk of their car, truck or van. Sellers may set up tables if they like, Herbert said, but those are not provided; anyone wanting to set up a table must bring it from home.
The price per parking spot is $10, with proceeds from the Aug. 9 event benefiting New Directions Domestic Abuse Resources Center. Proceeds from the July 12 Junk in Your Trunk went to Meals on Wheels, Herbert said. The Sept. 13 edition, which will also be held in the parking lot behind City Hall, will benefit the Bread of Life.
According to Herbert, although there are several sellers already signed up for the Aug. 9 sale, there is yet room for more.
On Sept. 28, Junk in Your Trunk will move to the Courthouse Square, taking a place among the various events held during the city’s annual Tree City Fall Festival.
“We already have many vendors for Junk in Your Trunk for Sept 28 at the Fall Festival,” Herbert said. “There are limited spaces downtown, so please send your applications in as soon as possible.”
The proceeds from the Sept. 28 event will “be spent in stores around the square and given out to vendors during the Fall Festival.”
The Oct. 11 Junk in Your Trunk will move back to the lot behind City Hall.
“We hope to have a full lot and have a great sale,” Herbert said. “Don`t miss out. Hope to see you all there.”
