Gerald L. Owens, 76

Gerald L. Owens, 76, of St. Paul, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Waldron Health and Rehab Center.

Gerald was born Feb. 17, 1937 in Decatur County, the son of Brent and Josie (Griffin) Owens.

He married Joan Perry Owens Oct. 20, 1984, and she survives.

Gerald is also survived by a stepson, Rick (Barb) Bullard of St. Paul; two stepdaughters, Kathy (Paul) Land of St. Paul and Karen (Todd) Runnebohm, of Shebyville, six step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Don, Lewis and Norman Owens.

Gerald had lived in the Decatur County area for entire life.

He worked in maintenance for First Christian Church of Columbus for 17 years before retiring in 2002.

He was a 1956 graduate of Sand Creek High School and a member of the Church of God in Greensburg.

Gerald enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with his dogs Trixie and Princess. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral services begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul. Rev. Keith Dover will officiate.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to time of service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Burial follows in Mt. Aerie Cemetery, Letts.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Foundation, care of the funeral home.
