Decatur County Farm Bureau Incorporated to hold Annual Meeting

Greensburg — Decatur County Farm Bureau members are invited to the Annual Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1. The meeting will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1308 W Main Street, Greensburg.

The agenda includes Guest Speaker: 2011-2012 Indiana FFA Southern Region Vice President, Jacob Mattox, 18, of Decatur County. He is the son of Gregg and Barb Mattox. Over his four years of membership at South Decatur, Jacob was active on many levels. He served as Chapter President and Vice President and also served as District XII President. Jacob attended four state FFA conventions, attended four National FFA conventions, served as a counselor at FIRE Conference (Foundations in Reaching Excellence) and participated in the Washington Leadership Conference in 2010. Jacob is ecstatic to serve the Indiana FFA for the coming year. During his year of service, he will travel the state of Indiana promoting agricultural education and the FFA. While in office, Jacob will speak to thousands of students and FFA supporters. After Jacob’s year of service he will be attending Purdue University where he will major in Agriculture Communications. With more than 9,500 members, the Indiana FFA Organization is devoted to supporting the potential of agriculture. Through agricultural education and the FFA, students are able to develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success.

Other highlights of the meeting include election of President, Second Vice President, Adams, Clay and Clinton township representatives, delegates to the 2012 State Farm Bureau Convention, drawings for door prizes and a catered meal from Koch's Karry-Out Katering.

RSVPs from members of Decatur County Farm Bureau are due by Aug. 25 to the Farm Bureau Office, 663-3595. The purpose of Decatur County Farm Bureau is to be an effective advocate for farmers and through its policies and programs, promote agriculture and improve the economic and social welfare of member families. The mission of Decatur County Farm Bureau is to promote agriculture through public education, member engagement, and by advocating for agricultural and rural needs.
