A half-century of 4-H fun will be commemorated later this month by the Smyrna Guys and Gals club with an ice cream social June 30. The event begins at 5 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Smyrna, and is open to the public. In addition to ice cream treats, club members will be grilling up pork burger sandwiches.
The reunion celebration is expected to last until 8 p.m. June 30. St. Paul Lutheran Church, Smyrna, is located at 3815 South County Road 550 East.
Applications for sheriff’s youth camp available
The Indiana Sheriff’s Youth Leadership Camp will celebrate its 34th annual program this year, running from July 9 to 11 at Waycross Episcopal Camp in Morgantown. Applications for the camp are available now at the Daily News office and the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department. Any seventh or eighth grade boy or girl with good academic standing is eligible to attend. The cost is $25 per child. Applications should be returned to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, care of Deputy Dave Henderson. Applications should be returned for review by July 1.
A century and a half of fashion on display at museum
Check out the current exhibit at the Decatur County Historical Museum, “Clothing Maketh the Man and Woman.” This is a display of clothing from the last 150 years featuring items from the museum’s archives and things on loan from individuals in the community.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - “Paws for a Cause” at Pampered Pause. Bath and nail trim for pets available for $15. Burgers, hot dogs and soft drinks $1. Proceeds benefit Riley Children’s Hospital.
1 to 7 p.m. - Cancer benefit for Jack Garwood at American Legion Post 129. Dinner and carry-outs available for beef and noodles or chicken and noodles, with sides of mashed potatoes, corn or green beans, dinner roll, dessert and coffee, tea or lemonade. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children. Children under 5 eat free. The band Monarch will play downstairs, in the bar area, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
