House celebrates Special Olympics, Page Day

---- — INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis) and fellow state representatives welcomed a group of House pages on Thursday as part of the Special Olympics and Best Buddy Page Day.

Special Olympics of Indiana athletes and participants in the Best Buddies program served as House pages for the day, where they met with and assisted their state representatives, toured the Statehouse and learned about the legislative process.

The Special Olympics of Indiana is a nonprofit organization providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. These athletes represent 74 county and local programs.

Best Buddies is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“These two organizations have had a remarkable impact on the lives of countless Hoosiers around the state,” said Ind. House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis). “These men and women who work in this field are a shining example of servant leadership, and it was a privilege to have them join us at the Statehouse today.”
