TCC donates supply packs to teachers

Greensburg Daily News

---- — GREENSBURG – On Sunday, The Cellular Connection at the Greensburg Commons donated supply packs filled with glue, pencils, pens, markers, erasers, paper, tissue boxes and more, to 10 pre-selected local teachers.

The pre-selected teachers were Misty Cooney, Linda Wagner, Karen Matthews, Rhastina Blessing, Christy Hull, Pam Emly, Kim Meyer, Virgia Dugle, Erica Kramer and Kathy Meyer.

The Cellular Connection donated school supply packs to 3,500 teachers across the country at 350 participating stores.

The Cellular Connection, the largest Verizon Premium Wireless Retailer in the U.S., made the donations in a joint effort with its customers, through its Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway.

The packages-valued at $80 each were filled with supplies to help teachers impact their students.

Residents in the community joined the cause by rounding their purchases up to the nearest dollar with the difference going directly toward the Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway. When participating stores raised more than $500 through customer contributions, the money was used to purchase additional supplies for the teachers.

“Every year, teachers spend an average of $1.3 billion of their own money on school supplies, and on top of that, budget cuts continue to lead to less support for our teachers,” said Scott Moorehead, president and CEO of TCC.

“At TCC, we believe teachers deserve more. We believe that teachers rock. This is one more way we are giving back through our Culture of Good, and we’re proud to be able to do it.”

The Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway is taking place 6 months after TCC’s donation of 60,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children across the U.S. through its School Rocks Backpack Giveaway initiative.
