---- — Greensburg — The South Decatur varsity boys basketball team hosted Knightstown for Senior Night Friday, honoring Kaleb Cunningham, Chris Johannigman, Taylor Kopplin, Devin Taylor and Andrew Wullenweber.

The Panthers beat the Cougars 75-56.

After the game, head coach Jordan Stevens commented on the five seniors.

“These are five outstanding young men,” said Stevens. “Notice I didn’t just say ‘basketball players’, but ‘young men’. It’s a great group for my first. They’re good kids to be around. You can’t ask for much more from this group. They’re a great group of guys and they’ve made the season fun.”

Each of the seniors had an opportunity to walk off the court, for one last time, to a standing ovation from the home crowd in the fourth quarter.

Kopplin led South with 19 points on four 3-pointers, while Wullenweber scored 13.

Devin Taylor scored 12 points. Junior Sam Studler scored five, junior Jordan Ortman added four and junior Nick Schwering chipped in three.

Stevens credited Knightstown for bringing a tough game to South Friday. He noted that Knightstown would be the team to beat for the conference title.

“They made it tough on us,” said Stevens. “They made a lot of good plays.”

South shot 17-for-32 from the foul line. Junior guards Seth Niese and sophomore Drew Taylor played off the bench in the fourth quarter.
