Aqua Pirates sweep Madison

---- — Both Greensburg swimming teams defeated visiting Madison Thursday night, with the boys winning their first meet of the season. The Lady Aqua Pirates won 96-74, while the Pirate boys won 91-70.

According to head coach Josh Hawkins, 15 personal bests were established Thursday. Several swimmers also broke multiple PR’s.

Highlighting the night was sophomore Bri Stagge as she broke the school record in the 500-yard freestyle.

Several swimmers also turned in multiple wins on the night.

Bri Stagge won the 200 free and the 500 free, taking the 500 free in dominating fashion with the school record. She doesn’t want to stop at Thursday’s mark, though.

“I was excited to break my own PR,” she said afterward. “I want to keep breaking it all season.”

Molly Oesterling won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 free. She set a PR in the 50 free.

Nick Oesterling was victorious in the 100-yard butterfly, setting a PR, and also won the 100 backstroke.

Brady Niles captured wins in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke, setting a PR in the 200 IM.

Abby Bausback was a winner in the 100 fly. She also took second in the 200 IM with a personal best.

Drew Reiger set a PR in his 200-yard freestyle win, and also a PR in the 500 free.

Emily Eberhardt captured a win in the 100 breast.

The Greensburg girls 200 medley relay team of Bausback, Eberhardt, senior Megan McDole and Oesterling, clocked a winning time.

The boys 200 free relay of Brady Niles, Reiger, Spencer Kuehl and Oesterling, took first place.

The Greensburg boys and girls both won the 400 free relays. Teaming up for the girls were Oesterling, Morgan Stagge, Bausback and Bri Stagge. Teaming for the boys were Oesterling, Kuehl, Reiger and Niles.

Other personal-bests: Todd Overmyer (3rd in 200 free; 3rd in 500 free); Jadrian Woods (4th in 50 free); Andrew Schroeder (3rd in 100 fly); Alli Duerstock (4th in 100 free); Emma Overmyer (100 free); Spencer Kuehl (2nd in 100 free); McKella Lynette (50 free).

Other finishes -

Second place: boys 200 medley relay (Gavin Amburgey, Todd Overmyer, Andrew Schroeder, Jake Buening); girls 200 free ‘A’ relay (Emily Eberhardt, Morgan Stage, Megan McDole, Bri Stagge).

Third place: girls 200 free ‘B’ relay (Kara Niles, McKinley Bottoms, Morgan Springmeyer, Alli Duerstock); boys 200 free ‘B’ relay (Schroeder, Amburgey, Buening, Overmyer); girls 400 free ‘B’ relay (Niles, Koontz, Bottoms, Springmeyer); Duerstock (100 breast).

Fourth place: girls 200 medley ‘B’ relay (Danielle Schroeder, Alli Duerstock, Valeria Martinez, Kara Niles).

Fifth place: girls 200 free ‘C’ relay (McKella Lynette, Danielle Schroeder, Emma Overmyer, Ashley Koontz); girls 400 free ‘C’ relay (Lynette, Overmyer, Martinez, Schroeder); Springmeyer (100 breast).

The Aqua Pirates return to the pool Tuesday to host Batesville and Rushville at 5:30 p.m.
