Lady Aqua Pirates win Tri meet

The Greensburg swimming teams competed in a Tri meet against Batesville and Rushville Tuesday night. The Lady Aqua Pirates captured the win with 146 points. Batesville was second with 119 and Rushville was third with 34.

The Pirate boys were second with 100 points. Batesville won with 139 points, and Rushville scored 38.

Several Greensburg swimmers recorded multiple wins. Another winner for the Lady Pirates was Emily Eberhardt.

Greensburg head coach Josh Hawkins was pleased to see the Lady Pirates reverse last year’s loss to Batesville.

“It deflated us a bit,” said Hawkins. “We didn’t finish strong. Winning tonight really will set up a strong finish to the season.”

Sophomore Abby Bausback and Molly Oesterling recorded two wins apiece for the girls. Capturing wins for the boys were Spencer Kuehl, Nick Oesterling and Drew Reiger.

The girls won all three relays, while the boys took one. Another boys relay tallied a personal-best time for the season.

The Greensburg girls 200-yard medley relay of Bausback, Eberhardt, senior Megan McDole and Molly Oesterling, beat second-place Batesville for a win.

The quartet of Oesterling, Eberhardt, senior Morgan Stagge and sophomore Bri Stagge took the 200 free relay, while the quartet of McDole, Bausback, Morgan Stagge and Bri Stagge won the 400 free relay.

Taking the 400 free relay for the boys were Nick Oesterling, Kuehl, Reiger and Brady Niles.

The quartet of Kuehl, Reiger, Oesterling and Niles captured a season’s personal best in the 200-yard medley, taking second place.

Molly Oesterling won the 100 free and the 50 free, while Bri Stagge won the 500 free. Bausback won the 100 backstroke and the 200 IM.

Brady Niles placed second in the 100 breaststroke, and second in the 100 butterfly. Todd Overmyer was second in the 200 free.

Morgan Stagge took second place in the 200 free.

The Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference meet is set for Friday, Jan. 10 at South Dearborn at 6 p.m., and the finals are Saturday, Jan. 11 starting at 9 a.m.
