IU to Rename Assembly Hall

Indiana University has announced a $40 million gift from philanthropist and IU graduate Cindy Simon Skjodt. The funding will support renovations to Assembly Hall. In honor of the donation, the venue will be renamed Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Upgrades to the 1970s-era facility are expected to be complete in 2016.

Steel Dynamics’ New Board Member

Fort Wayne-based Steel Dynamics Inc. (Nasdaq: STLD) has named Bradley Seaman to its board of directors. He is managing partner with Illinois-based Tricor Pacific Capital Inc. He will serve out the remaining term of James Trethwey, who passed away in October.

Redevelopment in Anderson

A groundbreaking is set for Friday in downtown Anderson for a nearly $6 million senior living development. Plans call for the upper three floors of the five story YMCA building to be converted into senior living apartments. Mayor Kevin Smith says the project should help attract more investment to the downtown.

Purdue Awards Softball Contract

Auburn company has been awarded a $13 million contract to build a new softball complex at Purdue University. Fetters Construction Inc. will handle the final piece of the university’s Mackey Complex project, which was approved in 2007.

Pro Soccer Team Sets Schedule

Indy Eleven has unveiled its inaugural season schedule. The team will play the first two games of a nine-game schedule at home in IUPUI Carroll Stadium in April.

Indiana Part of Mortgage Agreement

Attorney General Greg Zoeller has announced Indiana will share in a more than $2.1 billion joint settlement among 48 states and a Georgia-based home loan company. A total of up to $18.6 million could to go toward reducing the principal on mortgages of affected Hoosier borrowers.

IU Kokomo Nursing School Milestone

Indiana University Kokomo School of Nursing says its first class of Master of Science in Nursing will graduate this month. The 14 classmates include nurses from Kokomo, nearby communities and one from Elkhart.
